Barbell workout alternative: The Corebag
Somewhere between a barbell and a sandbag, the Escape Corebag can be used where barbells aren't suitable, or just as a full-body workout challenge for every muscle.
Below Andy Phillips, head of training at Escape Fitness, will show you how to master the Corebag for a five-move workout that challenges upper body, lower body and your core.
What is a Corebag?
With a Corebag, you can deadlift, pull, press, swing and perform many other movements in comfort through great ergonomics and a practical weight progression.
Many barbell workouts can be performed with a Corebag, with the added safety of softness that won't damage floors in the gym or at home. It's a great way to introduce moves such as cleans and presses for anyone not familiar with, or slightly intimidated by a barbell.
If you want to find an alternative for a barbell or something more stable than a sandbag, buy a Corebag here.
One bag workout to rule them all.
This is the full workout for home or in the gym. Andy leads you through each exercise and timing, offering both regressions and progressions to suit and challenge any fitness ability. Check out the YouTube video above for full details of each movement.
The Corebag workout is five exercises of 60 seconds work with 20 seconds rest, for three rounds. The exercises are:
- Front squat and press
- The clean
- Groiners on the bag
- Reverse lunge with trunk rotation
- Stiff leg deadlift
