    Killer cardio with the Core Momentum Trainer

    The Core Momentum Trainer (CMT) is making a massive impact on workouts around the world. Check out the CMT fan club on Facebook to see videos of people across the planet coming up with new exercises with this awesome bit of kit.

    If you already have a CMT, this week’s workout is going to get you and your clients using it to its maximum cardio potential. Trust us: in a few minutes’ your heart will be racing!

    A Tabata format CMT workout

    The CMT can be used for many kinds of exercise, but in this WOW Tommy and Andy are using it for a Tabata-style high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout.

    You have eight exercises, with each one performed for 20 seconds followed by rests of ten seconds.

    Exercise one - Launch

    The Launch is one of the eight core movement patterns created for the CMT. Speed is of the essence to get the heart rate going. Make sure also that you get the CMT well above the head.

    Exercise two - Punch To The LEFT With Two Foot Jump Rotation

    This is where things get really good: combining a CMT Punch with a whole body movement guarantees a superb cardio effect. Tommy’s top tip here is to make sure you snap the hips through the movement.

    Exercise three - Punch To The RIGHT With Two Foot Jump Rotation

    Now switch over to the other side.

    Exercise four - Throw to the RIGHT

    For great form with this one, be sure to drive right through the hip with rotation, and also through the thoracic.

    Exercise five - Throw to the LEFT

    As above, but now to the right.

    Exercise six - Catch With Side To Side Hop

    This is a classic CMT movement: cardio, strength, balance and stability all get a workout at the same time.

    Exercise seven - Split Jump Punch

    Just when you think you can’t take any more, Tommy hits you with this! You need to drop the back knee down low and whip the CMT to the side to get the total effect of this movement.

    Exercise eight - Launch

    It’s back to the launch to finish off a workout that pushes every part of the body to the limits.
